I enjoy doing things the UNIX/POSIX way, I've been using Linux and the various other Unices for quite some time, however I don't find Windows to bad as bad as you make it out to be. For example portable programs, .exe files and installation wizards are still a clear advantage of Windows. Diehards will deny this and claim that distributing the source code and not the binary is the true Linux way of doing things, but they fail to notice that it's more about offline usability and archiving, which gets hard on Linux, if you don't want to get the source code of all dependencies as well. As >>24 pointed out, there is also the Win32Api, which makes programming a lot easier and is considerably more pleasant than it's Linux counterparts, not to mention it's just a unified way of handling things.
