I like thick laptops. Name the thickest laptop you know. I'll start: IBM Thinkpad 380XD and 385XD

Rugged laptops are some of the thickest for sure

Yeah but that's because they're rugged. If they made fat consumer laptops nowadays they could cool them properly and fit a lot more stuff in them.

Pretty common on older laptops. Don't expect to be able to upgrade to more than 2 ghz tho.

Why not get a rugged laptop? A lot of them have that modularity. Panasonic toughbooks have modular components (proprietary connections though), hot-swappable batteries as well. They can be found cheap second hand.

I used to use a Toughbook CF-19 really nice laptop especially when running it under Linux though personally i prefer smaller laptop (11-13inch laptops) for most cases if I end up buying a laptop again I'll go for a framework 13 I think (the 12 has only intel chip-sets and 3rd party RISC-V boards exist for the 13)

hello everynyan. i spend a lot of time creating "music" with my computer aswell as with other machines, most of which are specially designed for the creation of this "music." i'd imagine that there's other denpas that partake in this most illustrious of pasttimes since like, what the hell else are you going to do with all that time in your room.

i'll start by talking about my setup, but feel free to post any music production thoughts you want in this thread. for the first time in my life i actually have a musical keyboard as a permanent resident of my desk which is a wonderful feeling, (tho it doesnt track velocity (tho i kinda like that)). aside from the casio keyboard i have a microfreak, and a few volca boxes that i need to spend more time with, and these two DJ MIDI controllers (faderfox dj1 & maudio xsession pro) that are just lousy with knobs and faders. they were made for like mixing tracks and doing EQ stuff or something i think but i like using them with with highly specific synth patches. i also have a mackey 5 input mixer, just in case.

for software i mostly use FL studio (mostly stock, too) but every now and then i'll use something else, i bounced around between LMMS, renoise, VCV rack, and virtual DJ a lot before i decided i was a fruity looper at heart. and for the curious, my work usually falls under the hip hop & noise millieus. maybe i'll post some vocaroo links if i feel like it.
