I'm sure it's not the first such case, but a week ago a zoomer scene kid reinvented webrings.

wow seeing her fashion sense I expected her website to also be similar, but clicking through it's so soul-less and corporate looking. Why even bother at that point?

tbf her site is a generic wordpress themed one as she's just barely dipped her toes into the personal website universe, and she seems more interested in a place to put content at this point than a site as a work in it self.

i forgot those templates exist. That's the most boring way to go about it, but at the end of the day it's still better than nothing i guess.

it's sorta sad looking at the websites other people made based on her vid. they're all distinctly based on some web builder template. but i think the more people making personal websites the better. maybe some of them will eventually learn what html is and actually make something cool!

also i went to one of the websites she linked on her site
"For the best experience, please have javascript and iframes enabled."
lol bye

The site looks better than I thought it would based on the comments in this thread. I don't like the modern layout and use of wordpress but at least it's styled with a bit of personality and has plenty of content.

Looks like shes trying to make it less corporate: https://luvstarkei.com/photo-website-renovations/

good for her and her friends.

do you mean make it relevant again? rss still exists on most news site, they just dont bother much with it anymore. neocities also has thousands of webrings

nah i totally expect them to just use rss (i think her page has rss already), but i meant, create some text document feed format that does what rss does.
like they aren't using anything that is an "actual webring" they created a shout out page linking to other pages with those others having shoutouts to other pages. so they "reinvented webrings"
and also it's a kitschy click baity topic line to start the conversation.

Seems like a sign that personal websites are slowly making it's way into the mainstream again. Which will have both negative and positive consequences.
