what are your thoughts on fashion and clothing? how do you usually dress, and why do you choose to dress that way? no images please.

day to day i like wearing plain t-shirts with cargo pants because it's simple, practical and comfortable. my favorite color combo for these clothes is a brown t-shirt with beige cargos, but most of the time i'll wear black cargos with the topmost t-shirt in my drawer. as for footwear, i wear a pair of standard issue caf combat boots that i got for free, pants ALWAYS tucked. if you ain't tucking we can't hang. i always wear knee-socks. i dress like example human.

for the summer i have this awesome pair of cargo pants. they're blue in color, neither light nor dark, neither intense nor drab. they're made of a very lightweight and breathable fabric and they have zippers above the knee that allow the lower leg to be removed which converts them into shorts. pretty cool, if i do say so myself.

it gets pretty cold here so i have some thick wool clothes for the winter. my favorite pieces are my german border patrol turtleneck and my canadian army double-breasted wool long coat, but the most important pieces for having a fun time in the cold are a pair of thick wool long socks, a pair of thick wool gloves and an upper and lower fleece base layer. i don't tolerate harsh weather at all so i prefer the winter because at least in the winter i can dress warmer whereas during the summer i just have to suffer and wait.

when i want to wear something cooler i have a white colarless button shirt that i wear under a light blue long-sleeved knee-length tunic with off-white baggy pants (that i made myself) and an off-white waist sash (that i made with the leftover fabric from the pants) as well as a pair of red winingas (worn properly with NO STEPPING).

an absolutely necessary accessory for anyone who wears glasses daily is a nerd strap, preferably one that's made of a comfortable fabric. never having to worry about losing my glasses is a nice feeling, i really like having at least this much certainty. on the topic of accessories, i think bracelets are nice. i wear a watch and a couple of bracelets when i go outside. one's a paracord bracelet i made and two's a leather and rope bracelet my dad got me. i do not like necklaces at all, i've tried wearing one, a leather necklace with a wood pendant, for some time and i could not get used to it so i stopped wearing it.

i'm trying to get more canteen pouches for my chest rig so that i can have a proper hiking setup but i haven't been able to find any locally. the rig i have is a very comfortable one, it's an 82 pattern webbing, formerly issued by the canadian armed forces. it's an old-school belt-and-suspenders type rig. the shoulder piece is well padded and most of the weight rests on the hipbones instead of on the back which feels so much better than a backpack.

i can't wait to hear about what the other denpafolk like to wear. i think clothing is interesting because without it man is but a fleshy beast, with the proper clothes man can be whoever and whatever he wants, or at least he can fool himself into believing that he is something other than a fleshy beast.

plain t shirt and jeans. sometimes i wear sweatpants and merchandise for things i like. currently wearing a mlp t shirt. when i get stressed out i can look at the cute horse. maybe i should start wearing flannels like im tanaka from otaku no video or smthng. i dont really like expensive brand clothing and very rarely wear short pants. i wear velcro shoes because theyre very easy to open and close.

i usually wear a band tee and either jeans or a skirt if i wanna dress like a normie, but im very fond of going out in cosplay. i have a maid dress and serafuku i wear pretty frequently. ive learned that dressing like a freak all the time gets you a lot of attention and compliments from zoomers and millennials, and im very self centered so it works out great

i also wanna get into gothic lolita when i have some savings for it, but taking care of it would be rough

i used to wear velcro shoes until i was 17 because i didn't know how to tie my shoelaces. flannels are comfy, i have a few shirts of varying thickness and i really like em.

based and skirtpilled. i'd wear one but idk where to get one that i'd feel comfortable wearing. maybe i should make one instead. the gothloli style looks really cool but the high-maintenance is enough to convince me to stay away.

i get most of my skirts from thrift stores and fashion resale shops like buffalo exchange, they usually have a wide variety of stuff so you can roughly figure out your style for cheap. but if going outside is too much (totally get it) id say check depop

i can tolerate the outside but my taste is pretty specific as i won't wear a skirt that doesn't reach all the way down to my ankles. idk how common long skirts are in thrift stores and the like, plus i'm quite picky when it comes to the color and feel of the fabric. i'd rather just pick a nice fabric and make one from the comfort of my home.

lakai and etnies would be my picks as far as skate shoes go.
vans are crappy shoes for the purpose of skating, they're fragile and not particularly comfortable.
etnies are really durable, i wore an old pair that my dad used to wear when i was learning to skate, then i wore a pair of vans that broke down pretty quickly and now i'm wearing a pair of lakai.
the latter pair has been very comfortable so far and seems to be holding up well enough, though i was not too impressed by the laces that the shoes came with. i have swapped them out for the laces that came with the decrepit pair of vans that i have mentioned earlier.

I'm guessing it makes moderation more easy or to cut down on low quality posts

I have a rather minimalist approach to fashion.
One day I just threw out 70% of all my clothes and bought:

-10x black fruit of the loom T-shirts in European S

-10x black Tanktops

-6x identical black jack and jones slim fit pants on sale

-6x black well fitting shorts for summer

-4x black sweat pants for being at home in winter

-6x identical Black denim shirts half of them of thicker material and some of them out of thin material, front pockets are recomended btw.

-5x pairs of cheap solid black sneakers with no brand logos

-10x black boxer briefs

-10x of identical basic black medium long socks

-10x pairs of shoe inlays for working people that soften each step and prevent bad smells for like 8€ a pop during a sale.
-

This is pretty much my base layer and perfect for pretty much any occasion, so I never look like a tasteless prole.

Since every piece of clothing is well fitting and I have a rather fit physique, I don't even have to iron any of my clothes and it's very easy to keep tidy/ do laundry.

Any and all other clothes I buy from now on follow the same rule of being easy to replace, easy to wash and also work with my basic black wardrobe.

I have a cupboard for my hiking clothes and gear, my winter clothes get stowed away during summer, and my non black clothes and suits have their own place to be stored at in my closet.
Any and all clothes get repaired if possible since I learned the basics on how to sew one day.

I still appreciate fashion from afar but came to the conclusion that I don't want to deal with the upkeep and money involved in it for myself ^^

I hate fashion. The ideology behind fashion is really corrupt. I try to wear simple clothes that don’t stand out. I used to buy cheap shit but realized that’s dumb and look for clothes that are well made with good materials. Its better to spend a lot of money on something that will last and not destroy the environment with garbage clothes that wear out after a week.

True, but if you see it as an expression of art/culture and reinstate this mentioned mindset of buying quality clothes, one can recapture the beauty of it.
If I had more money, time, events to be at and a safe neigborhood, I would 100% invest in rather fancy, traditional clothes from the part of Europe I come from.

Beauty is an expression of rebellion in ugly times after all...

I don't like the idea of clothes being about self-expression because then it becomes pure narcissism. This is what I hate about fashion, its built on narcissism and individualism. Art I can get behind but it depends. I've lived so long as a hiki that I can't tell apart women and men's clothes when I go to the store.

It's not always about self-expression.
Alot of fashion is dressing a certain way to fit into some pre-established group, even if you're thinking you're expressing yourself.
